Canon EOS Mark 3 1D Review
|

Canon takes a giant step forward in the digital SLR world with its EOS
1D Mark III, a camera that Canon redesigned from the ground up to be
all about speed and ease of use. Canon has equipped the 1D Mark III
with so many new and improved features that you have get your hands on
one to really see the amazing engineering feat that they’ve created.
The camera that’s all about speed will do everything in its power so
you can get your shot – it delivers 10 frames of 14-bit, 10.1 megapixel
RAW images per second for 3 seconds in typical shootings situations –
to which no other camera can stack up. And while it doesn’t have the
16.6 megapixel full frame sensor of the 1Ds Mark II, the 1D is superior
in practically all other aspects.
The 1D Mark III is graced with a new huge 3-inch LCD display, which is
1.4x larger that the 2.5-inch displays on other Canons and its
competitors.
The LCD boast a 140-degree viewing angle and works exceedingly well in
bright sunlight; this new display will make selling images from the
camera (or sharing the results with a client) that much easier. And
what’s even more impressive about the 1D Mark III’s large display is
that Canon equipped the camera with Live View mode – in which you can
use the LCD as the viewfinder and see 100% of the picture, just like
what you can do on a point-n-shoot!
You must use Manual Focus in Live View, but you zoom in on the LCD
screen and use the joystick to pan around to ensure razor sharp focus.
What makes the 1D Mark III really impressive it that you can use Live
View to preview your photos on a monitor, just hook up the camera to
your computer via the USB port and have every one gather around the
monitor to see and review the photo, before you take it. This is
extremely helpful, but maybe you don’t want every person on set seeing
the art as it’s being created. You can also control the camera
wirelessly with the new and improved WFT-E2A Dedicated Wireless File
Transmitter.
Canon has redesigned the menus and the button layout, so it’s easier to
navigate to the best settings that are available on this remarkable
camera; as one of Canon’s 1-Series, it’s a reference standard camera
that features top-of-the-line performance specs in all the possible
features available on dSLR! It’s always said that one you use a
1-Series camera, you’ll hock the rest of your cameras. And the best way
to put this theory to the test is to get your hands on the 1D3 and use
a variety of the impressive Canon lens available.
Only Canon’s 1Ds Mark II competes with this camera, and that’s because
of it’s full-frame sensor.
